Southwest Airlines SNA to SMF (Sacramento) Boeing 737-700

Here is takeoff and landing from inside a Southwest Airlines 737 from Santa Ana (SNA) to Sacramento (SMF). Southwest Airlines Flight 3517 from SNA to SMF on a Boeing 737-700 early morning takeoff through the Southern California marine layer with a break-out to a bright sunny morning. Notice how quickly they get to 10,000 feet due to the strict noise laws surrounding John Wayne Airport(SNA).

A340 Missed Approaches/Go Arounds at LGB

A Luftwaffe 16+01 Airbus A340 made 4 Missed Approaches/ Go Arounds at LGB/Long Beach Daugherty Field, testing equipment for the USAF. That's as much as I know. What follows is the email sent out from Long Beach Airport.

"The U.S. Air Force has planned to conduct four approaches to the Long Beach Airport on Thursday, August 1, 2013. These operations are expected to occur between 10:00am and 10:30am. The Air Force will be flying an Airbus A340 aircraft for equipment testing purposes.

Combined Navy Tac Demo, Blue Angels, Thunderbirds 2012 Schedule

Here is a combined VFA-122, VFA-106 (F/A-18E/F), Blue Angels, Thunderbirds 2012 schedule that I was able to piece together. I was unable add the F-22 Raptor as it has not been posted yet. If you happen to go to a show that has a VFA-122/106 then consider yourself very lucky. Their will be shows with only the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds but no single ship military team. This might change as the year goes but the Raptor was grounded for the better part of last year and is a little bit of a hanger queen.

Air Combat Command Statement on Reduction of Demo Teams

    ACC statement about reduction of single-ship demo teams in 2012

We face significant fiscal constraints and are making tough decisions about the

best ways to continue providing combat airpower to warfighting commanders, which is

what we do as the Air Force’s primary force provider. 

     One decision we’ve made is to sponsor one single-ship demonstration team for

the 2012 air show season, scaling back from the six teams we’ve historically sponsored

– A-10 East & West, F-16 East & West, F-15E and F-22.

     For the 2012 season, we’re sponsoring our F-22 demonstration team to perform

at up to 20 shows.  In addition to the F-22 demonstration team, the Thunderbirds are set

to complete a full season next year, and their schedule will be announced next week at

the International Council of Air Shows conference. 

     Reducing the number of single-ship demonstration teams will allow us to

reallocate more than 900 sorties to our wings so they can maximize their flying hours for

combat readiness training, offsetting some of the reduction we’ve seen in flying hours. 

     Most importantly, reallocating those sorties will provide an increase in more than 25

combat-ready fighter pilots – that’s a very good thing for our Nation and wise

stewardship of our limited resources.

     The opportunity to showcase our aircrew at air shows around the country is

important – and we’re confident our Thunderbirds, F-22 demonstration team and Air

Force Heritage Flight Foundation will continue highlighting the extraordinary work of all

our Airmen.

2 dead in AH-1W helicopter crash at Pendleton

Two Marine pilots died Monday when their AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter crashed at Camp Pendleton, Calif., the Marine Corps said in a statement.

The attack helicopter went down during a training flight at about 1 p.m. in a training area at the base, said 1st Lt. Maureen Dooley, a 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing spokeswoman.

AH-1W attack helicopters are crewed by a pilot and co-pilot. Camp Pendleton’s air station is home to five light-attack squadrons and a training squadron with Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd MAW.

The crash also sparked a brush fire that grew to 50 acres as of 4:30 p.m. local time, Camp Pendleton base officials said. Ground crews along with four air tankers and four helicopters were fighting the blaze, which was moving northeast, officials said.

Huntington Beach Civil War Days, Sept 3rd 2011.

Here's a look at one of our family's yearly traditions of watching the Civil War as reenacted Huntington Beach Historical Society. They do the reenactment in the Huntington Beach Central Park every year in September, on Labor Day weekend. In addition to the reenactments both sides North and South set up period realistic camps that you can stroll through and interact with the actors. If your from the midwest or east it is similar to the Civil War Forts that you might have grown up with.    

The following video is from the Sept. 3rd 4pm battle. It is the full battle and I tried something new and I'm still not sure on how I feel on how it came out. I did a two camera set up and mixed in the different as the battle went on. I hope you enjoy.

A Look at Knott's Berry Farm's WindSeeker.

During a recent visit to Knotts we were able to take a look a the newly opened (Aug. 24) WindSeeker. At a height of 301 feet and a ride time of 3 minutes, this should be a thrilling addition to Knott's family of thrill rides.

Disney's California Adventure(DCA) Trip Video, July 2011

Here's a video of a few the entertainment offerings that were going on at California Adventure this summer. It wasn't as packed as Disneyland, MouseWait was saying it was at 83% crowd index, while DCA was at 80%. We tried Disneyland early in the morning, but park-hopped over to DCA right as it opened. This is not an add for MouseWait, I have nothing to do with the app, but if you are going to Disneyland/California Adventure I would highly recommend this app for your smartphone. I have a Sprint EVO 4g and it worked great and was very close to being on the mark every time. Check it out! Its Free!
