Blue Angels Continue Air Show Season

       PENSACOLA, Fla.- The Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, will resume all previously scheduled performances for the 2011 season beginning with Quad City Air Show in Davenport, Iowa, June 18-19.

       During the past two weeks, the Blue Angels completed rigorous training and air show demonstration practice to integrate Capt. Greg McWherter, the new commanding officer and flight leader, back into the flight demonstration team. Capt. McWherter last served with the Blue Angels as their commanding officer during the 2010 season.

       The Blue Angels look forward to continuing to represent the Navy and Marine Corps service members around the world.

According to http://www.navy.mil/ the F/A-18 was a F model Super Hornet. Squadron unknown as of yet.

LEMOORE, Calif. (NNS) -- An F/A-18F Super Hornet crashed in a field near Naval Air Station Lemoore at 12:08 p.m, April 6.

Emergency services are on scene and have secured the perimeter.

F/A-18 Hornet Down at NAS Lemoore. Two Fatalities Reported.

2 dead as F/A-18 goes down near Lemoore

SAN DIEGO — A two-seat F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet crashed Wednesday in a field just outside Naval Air Station Lemoore, killing two aboard, Navy officials said.
The Hornet crashed about a half-mile from the air station at 12:08 p.m., and two fatalities were reported, said Cmdr. Pauline Storum, a Naval Air Forces spokeswoman in Coronado, Calif.
“No other injuries or details were reported,” Storum said.
Navy officials were still gathering information as local and military emergency crews went to the scene in Lemoore, located in California’s Central Valley.
The air station is the Navy’s West Coast hub for its F/A-18 Hornet squadrons and is home to a fleet replacement training squadron.
